I SCREAM INVASION

I Scream Invasion is a mixed media 2D and 3D animated short about aliens invading the city of Savannah for Ice Cream. The Short was intended to air as a bumper for the SCAD Film Festival in 2020. The main concept is by Alex Batchelor.

I am responsible for producing, 3D animating UFOs, After Effects compositing and color correcting.

PRODUCING

My role as producer meant creating spreadsheets for schedules, skillsets, assets, shotlists, contact information, and Production Breakdown GANTT charts. I was in charge of all dates after an assignment was delegated by our director.

I used previous experiences to help push the ambitions of this film. The Director and I were attached at the hip in order to keep communication and turnaround occurring as smooth as possible, also adopting a 48 hour rule for all delegated assignments in order to finish the film with ease in ten weeks.

3D ANIMATING

I animated the Ice Cream "reveal shot" as well as tested the UFO spin in order to gain the proper speed we were looking for.

The tested speed we concluded on. The spin feels like a ominous crawl but is still noticeable enough for the short shots we have in the film.

"Splat"

I am responsible for animating the UFOs and layering the foreground and background in composite.

COMPOSITING AND EDITING

I edited and composited the film together, giving it the look and feel through vignette, sepia color overlays, adding dust and grain, and animating camera movements. This composite took multiple layers of background, midground and foreground, all with levels of animation and movement needed to sell the story.
